Topsy Ojo has embarked on his 15 th pre-season for London Irish, the legendary winger set to reclaim the title of Irish’s all-time appearance maker this season.
Ojo, 32, who recently penned new terms at Hazelwood, is closing in on David Paice’s appearance record and says he cannot wait to pull on the Exiles jersey again.
“It’s quite hard to explain, but I just love being out there and love being able to do something I really enjoy in front of people that love watching me do it,” said the England capped flyer.
“I have family and friends all willing me on from the stands, which is great. The club has a lot of history and we all stick together and I just love being on the pitch.
“It’s pre-season number 15 and it’s been tough going so far. It is what it is and it’s been hard work, but it’s just a chance to start building a base with the fixtures having just come out now.”
With the fixtures released on Friday, many supporters have been making their plans for the new season. Ojo says the supporters mean the world to him and is urging them to renew their season tickets ahead of what promises to be an exciting campaign.
“The fact that I’ve been here for 15 years plus since the age of 17 is testament to the way I’ve been made to feel welcome,” he said.
“I’m slightly older now, but the love and affection is as strong as it’s ever been and it’s one of the biggest reasons why I’ve been here for as long as I have.”
