Tom Coventry and his team to arrive at London Irish for Pre-Season

London Irish today (11^th May) announced further details about the Club’s rugby management structure for the 2015/16 season.

Tom Coventry, the Club’s new Head Coach, will now take up his position after the conclusion of the Super Rugby tournament in July. 

Assistant Coaches Grant Doorey and Clark Laidlaw will also arrive from New Zealand to take up their positions in July.

On 1^st July, interim Head Coach, Glenn Delaney, will become the Club’s Head of Rugby Operations where he will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a world class performance structure at London Irish.

Richard Whiffin, who has been part of the Club’s rugby support team since 2005, initially as an Analyst and more recently as Backs Coach, will continue as an Assistant Coach for the new season.

Rob Palmer has been promoted to Head of Strength and Conditioning after spending eight years with the Club in the Strength and Conditioning Department.

Bob Casey, London Irish Operations Director, said: “We are pleased that Tom Coventry and his team will now be available for the start of pre-season as we originally planned for his arrival after the Rugby World Cup. With an earlier start date now confirmed, we can build towards the start of the Aviva Premiership on October 17^th with a full coaching complement.

“Glenn Delaney has demonstrated that he has the skills, character and capabilities required to succeed in the role of Head of Rugby Operations and we’re pleased he is moving in to that demanding position.

“Richard and Rob have both worked extremely hard during their time at the Club and have always been valued members of their respective departments. They thoroughly deserve to progress and will continue to drive the Club forward.

“We are excited about the new rugby structure at London Irish and are confident that it is the right model to move the Club forward and achieve our long term goals.”
