The London Irish Academy can today confirm four new signings to be added to the Club’s Senior Academy for the 2021/22 season.

Henry Arundell, Calum Scott, Mikey Summerfield, and Monty Bradbury will all continue their journey with the London Irish Academy.

Calum Scott is a hooker that currently attends Pangbourne College. Scott has been in the London Irish Academy since the age of 13, coming through the London Irish Developing Player Programme based in Berkshire. Calum played his club rugby for Tadley RFC and Newbury Blues and has also been selected in the England U18 training squad. He has been confirmed as the captain for the London Irish U18s for the 2021/22 season.

Henry Arundell, who plies his trade as a full-back, was part of the London Irish U18s squad that won the Under-18 Academy League title. Arundell attends Harrow School and has been a part of the London Irish Academy since he was 14 years old, whilst also playing his club rugby for Bradford-on-Avon RFC. Henry has also previously been selected as part of the England U18 setup.

Mikey Summerfield is a prop from Hartpury College who made his way through the London Irish Developing Player Programme based in Hampshire. Having been in the London Irish Academy since he was 13 years old, Summerfield played a part in the Under-18 Academy League winning campaign and has been involved the England U18 training squad. Mikey played his club rugby for Andover RFC.

Fly-half Monty Bradbury has been in the Academy since the age of 14 alongside playing for Henley Hawks RFC and has represented England U18s. Bradbury, like Summerfield and Arundell, was involved in the squad effort to share the Under-18 Academy League title with Leicester Tigers. The Wellington College pupil started at 10 for the final clash with Tigers.

“I am absolutely delighted to announce the signing of Henry, Calum, Mikey and Monty” said Patrick O’Grady, Academy Manager.

“They are four young men who have been extremely diligent with their training over the last 12 months, despite the obvious challenges they have faced.

“The approach that they have taken gives me the confidence that they will make the very most of the opportunity in the Senior Academy.

“All four players came through the Academy system from age 13 or 14, and I’m thankful to everyone involved in their journey.

“The competition for places in our Senior Academy is increasing every year and I have no doubt this will drive the success of the Club forward.”
