Saturday’s comprehensive 82-3 victory over Rotherham Titans was London Irish’s most complete performance of the season according to Exiles Director of Rugby Nick Kennedy.
Kennedy watched on as his side ran in 12 tries to make a real statement ahead of the Easter weekend trip to Doncaster Knights.
“It was a very good performance and it was an 80 minute performance, which is what we need at this stage of the season,” said Kennedy, 34.
“We’ve been talking all season about the importance of peaking at the right time and against Rotherham we’ve done just that.”
The Exiles put the South Yorkshire outfit to the sword with a devastating attacking display, which included a hat-trick from Alex Lewington.
“It’s great to see Alex back scoring tries again following a lengthy spell in the treatment room,” said Kennedy.
“Alex’s recovery from a serious injury is testament to the work of our medical staff and the dedication and commitment of the player himself. It was also great to see Tommy Bell back from injury and he managed to get himself on the scoresheet too, which will give him confidence.”
Now focussing his attention on this Saturday’s trip to Doncaster, Kennedy said: “Doncaster will be a very tough game for us and we will need to be prepared for the challenge that awaits.
“Clive Griffiths is a great coach and will have his team fired-up, and we are looking forward to the game.”
