London Irish have secured the services of prop Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi from Northampton Saints for the 2016-17 season.

The 22-year-old, who was part of the England Under-20 squad that lifted successive Junior World Championships in 2013 and 2014, has inked a two-year deal with the Club, and is the second player today to pin his colours to the Exiles following the announcement of Sebastian De Chaves.

Progressing through the ranks at Franklin’s Gardens, the Northampton-born front-row has been dual registered with Greene King IPA Championship side Moseley for the last two seasons whilst enjoying playing time with the Saints in the LV= Cup.

Developing his game under the watchful eye of Saints Director of Rugby Jim Mallinder, Hobbs-Awoyemi is looking forward to making the switch to Irish.

“I’m really looking forward to joining up with my new teammates in the summer,” said Hobbs-Awoyemi.

He added: “I enjoyed my time with Northampton, and now I have a great opportunity to continue my development with London Irish.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in and show what I can do.”

Head of Rugby Operations Glenn Delaney said: “We have been monitoring the progress of Danny for some time now and he will undoubtedly strengthen our options in the front-row department.

“Danny is a highly regarded prop, and we are delighted to develop his talent at London Irish.”
