London Irish has learned with regret of the death of Oswald Browne after a long illness.

Ossie Browne as he was popularly known around the Club and the Irish business community in London was a financial adviser to players, staff and supporters especially in the years after rugby went professional. He sponsored a number of the club’s commercial initiatives and always participated in the club’s fundraising golf days

Originally from Oughterard, County Galway, Ossie worked with another of the Club’s great supporters, Noel McGinn, in his financial services practice in Twickenham before striking out on his own in the 1980s. He built a successful independent business and bought a property in Ayrshire in Scotland which he turned into a four star boutique hotel.

A consistent, low handicap golfer, Ossie was a member of Richmond Golf Club for 38 years.

Unfortunately, ill health impacted on him in recent years and he relied on friends for company and support. He passed away in his sleep on Wednesday 8 April.

London Irish extends its sympathy to his family and friends both in this country and Ireland.
