London Irish v Wasps, Sunday 18 March 2007.

London Irish 16-13 Wasps

On this day, 13 years ago, a Premiership Rugby record crowd of 22,648 people travelled to the Madejski Stadium on a bright Sunday in March to mark St Patrick’s Day by watching a London Irish win.

London Irish were up 10-3 after 40 minutes, with a Topsy Ojo try and five points from the boot of Barry Everitt.

With the scores tied on 67 minutes, Argentinian replacement Juan Leguizamon received a try scoring pass from Seilala Mapusua. In splendid isolation, Leguizamon decided to embellish the moment with an extravagant dive, only to drop the ball in doing so.

Six points from Riki Flutey, along with the scores from Ojo and Everitt, secured the Exile’s a crucial victory.
