The wait is almost over as London Irish welcome Nottingham Rugby to the Madejski Stadium on Saturday 8 September for their first home game of the season, and Exiles director of rugby Declan Kidneys says his players and staff are excited to get started.

Tickets for the Nottingham and Bedford Blues games are now on general sale, with Kidney looking forward to hearing the Exiles faithful in full voice as the club strives to regain its place at English rugby’s top table.

“It’s very important that we make the supporters feel proud of their team,” said Kidney, who brought in nine new faces during the summer, including seasoned international experience.

“The players, management team, off field staff and the board are doing everything they can to ensure that the highest standards are maintained, with the ultimate aim of making the supporters feel part of our exciting journey.

“London Irish is famous for its fantastic fanbase, the craic and the connection between the club and its supporters is unique.

“We are looking no further than our next game, but it will be great to walk out at the Madejski Stadium in front of our home supporters and I encourage you to get your tickets and back the boys when Nottingham visit.”

The Exiles did the double on Nottingham when they were previously in the Championship, this season’s fixtures set to be even more competitive as the men from Sherwood Forest look to improve on last season’s eighth place finish.

“Every game in the Championship will be tough, but we’re all relishing the challenge and with the backing of our supporters, we will be giving it our best shot,” added Kidney.
