London Irish centre Fergus Mulchrone has signed a two-year contract extension, the club is delighted to announce.
Mulchrone, who turns 30 tomorrow, joined the Exiles from Rotherham Titans in 2013 and has since gone on to make 69 appearances.
Scoring two tries this term, the Mancunian is keen to continue Irish’s unbeaten start to the campaign which now stands at 15 wins out of 15 in all competitions.
“London Irish is a club that has big ambitions and I’m delighted to have extended my stay here,” said Mulchrone.
“We are determined to keep the winning run going during the festive period and there is a confidence and belief within the squad that we can do just that.
“The culture within the club is getting stronger and stronger with each day,” he added.
The Exiles take on Richmond at the Athletic Ground on Christmas Eve (kick-off 3pm) followed by Bedford Blues at the Madejski Stadium on New Year’s Eve (kick-off 2pm). Mulchrone reveals there is a strong bond in the camp going into 2016, saying: “The whole set-up is superb and there is a real unity with our Academy – many of the younger lads train with us each day and that unity is evident by the way in which they have made the step up to senior rugby.”
Irish Director of Rugby Nick Kennedy said: “Fergus has demonstrated excellent leadership qualities this season and this trait will be invaluable for us as we enter the business end of the campaign.
“He’s developed into a real leader and he’s served us well during his time at the club – I’m very much looking forward to seeing more from him as the season progresses.”
The Exiles’ next home game is against Bedford Blues in the Greene King IPA Championship on New Year’s Eve (kick-off 2pm) with tickets available by calling 0118 968 1016 or click here to purchase online.
