Lovejoy Chawatama is the latest player to commit his future to London Irish. The 24-year-old former England Students tighthead initially joined Irish earlier this year from London Welsh until the end of the season, but has now agreed a new deal following a series of impressive performances.

Tipping the scales at 18 stone, the aggressive ball-carrier has made three appearances for the Exiles since joining the club and the Zimbabwe-born front rower is delighted to have penned new terms.

“Ever since I joined the club in January, I’ve really enjoyed the experience of playing for London Irish and Forwards Coach George Skivington has been great to work with,” said Chawatama.

“I’ve always wanted to be involved at a club as big as London Irish and the infrastructure at the club is very impressive.

“Having played a string of games for the club, I’m now focussed on working towards holding down regular game time.”

Exiles Director of Rugby Nick Kennedy said: “Lovejoy has considerably bolstered our front row since joining us, and I’m pleased to have secured his services beyond this season.

“His formidable physique and dynamic ball-carrying ability are key ingredients of his game and will significantly improve the squad.”

London Irish's next home game is against Rotherham Titans at 3pm on 8 April. Tickets are available from 0118 968 1016 or click here to purchase online.
