London Irish opened their 2010/11 Heineken Cup campaign with a 23-17 victory over Munster in front of over 20,000 supporters at the Madejski Stadium.

Irish built up a 15-6 to take into half time, thanks to four penalty goals and a drop-goal from Ryan Lamb to two Ronan O'Gara penalties.

A Topsy Ojo interception try saw the Exiles pull clear in the second half before two O'Gara penalties reduced the Irish lead.

Delon Armitage kicked a massive penalty to secure the win, but a late Sam Tuitupou try secured the visitors a losing bonus point. Nevertheless, it was a memorable night and a brilliant win against a strong Munster side.
