London Irish U16s won two of their three matches at this week’s Wellington College Festival to sign-off a successful week for the players.

The tournament kicked-off on Sunday 14 April with the Exiles playing two matches on the opening day. Irish edged Wasps in a closely-fought game with a 15-10 victory. The three tries to two triumph was followed by a comprehensive 30-5 win against Gloucester, with the Irish defensive display a key element in the victory.

Saracens was the final opponent this afternoon with the North-London outfit claiming a 45-21 victory.

London Irish Academy manager, Patrick O’Grady was pleased with the outcome of the tournament. “I'm really happy with the development and cohesion of the players over the last few weeks. It was pleasing to see some great performances from the team.

“I would like to thank James Lightfoot Brown for leading the week and all staff, players and parents for their support."
