Targeting 14 to 16-year olds, London Irish will host an Inclusively Together Hub Club at Reading Abbey Rugby Club every Thursday from 1pm to 3pm, starting Thursday 1 November.

London Irish will be working closely with the Reading School Games Organiser to target local schools in the Reading area. The students making up the Hub Club will be those from a disadvantaged background and black and Asian ethnic minorities.

Part of the Premiership Rugby programme Project Rugby, the Hub Club will work on student’s communication, teamwork, teambuilding and leadership skills throughout the sessions.

The Hub Club will aim to provide a platform for young people by using the core values of rugby to propel them to the next step in their lives.

“It’s great that London Irish can deliver fully funded programmes within Reading” said Joseph Pegg, inclusion officer (disability).

“We are aiming to use the vehicle of rugby to provide structure inside and outside education”.
