London Irish Rugby Club Announce Partnership with Portsmouth College

London Irish are delighted to be able to announce that they have formed a partnership with Portsmouth College Sports Academy.

The partnership, which was finalised on the 12th May 2015, is primed to usher in an exciting new era of rugby within the College’s already high quality sports academy system.

The agreement will see London Irish community coaches delivering high quality training sessions to the Portsmouth College Rugby Academy squad, as well as coaches leading the team on match day fixtures, providing professional, technical and tactical insight.    

As well as coaching and managing the College Rugby Academy playing squad, London Irish will have a large role to play in the recruitment of future playing personnel, and the promotion of the sport within the college campus. This partnership, combined with potential Rugby based employment routes for students, will help Portsmouth College to create one of the most professional and exciting college rugby programs in the Portsmouth area.

Tom Lloyd, Sports Academy Director at Portsmouth College said: “We are ecstatic that we have the opportunity to collaborate with such a big name in English Rugby, and we are eager to see the exciting developments we can achieve at the college, and for the Portsmouth Rugby scene.”
