London Irish Club Members and Patrons travelled to Hazelwood on Wednesday evening to meet with an expert panel to discuss new rugby laws and receive a comprehensive insight into coaching and training.

The panel was made up of director of rugby Declan Kidney, head coach Les Kiss, international players Bryce Campbell and Saia Fainga’a and international referee JP Doyle, with charismatic scrum-half Brendan McKibbin acting as the host for the evening.

Kidney and Kiss kick-started the evening by meeting with Patron Members for a glass of prosecco and a catch-up before being joined by the rest of the panel and Club Members.

The coaches gave the Members and Patrons an exclusive insight into their thoughts on how the season is going, preparation for matches and the development of the team before taking questions from the guests.

Attendees were then treated to a referee’s perspective of the new World Rugby laws, along with past stories of tricky decisions and the use of the Television Match Official. It was then over to the guests to put their questions to the panel.

Campbell and Fainga’a were quizzed by McKibbin on their thoughts on the up and coming stars at London Irish, players' perception on the laws of the game and away fixtures this season.

“A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the event” said Kate Gorman, London Irish Patron.

“It was very informative and enjoyable. We look forward to a bright future for the London Irish family!”
