Sunday 24th April saw the 35th Annual London Irish International Mini Rugby take place at Hazelwood – The home of London Irish.

The Festival, one of the biggest in Europe, saw more than 4,000 children, coaches and parents from amateur clubs across Europe, descend on the London Irish training ground for the prestigious tournament which saw U7s, U8s, U9s, U10s, U11s and U12s teams take part in their respective age group competitions.

The London Irish first team were also in attendance to show their support to the future stars.

The festival was a huge success and a special thank you has to go the London Irish Amateur Club set up for ensuring the the smooth running of the day. It is a testament to them that clubs from all over the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Italy make their way over to partake in the event.

On the day the London Irish Amateurs helped raise money for their U12’s tour to Dublin by hosting a raffle. Due to the generosity of everyone in attendance there was a donation also made to the Shooting Star Chase. Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, they are there to make every moment count. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. It costs £10 million a year just to maintain the current level of care. Around 10% of that income comes from government funding, so they rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running.
