The London Irish HITZ pupils were treated to an evening on television thanks to the BT Sport programme ‘Rugby Tonight’.

The students proudly wore the London Irish away kit as they prepared to rub shoulders with BT Sport presenters Sam Warburton, Ugo Monye, Austin Healey and Sarra Elgan.

With the excitement building, the students had a tour of the Olympic Park, where the filming was taking place, before receiving a surprise from the BT crew.

The London Irish HITZ pupils had been chosen to be part in the demonstration team, helping Sam Warburton and Austin Healey explain the variety of line-outs. The cameras went live, and the pupils did themselves proud by completing the tasks perfectly!

Pupil Alfie Cook got the opportunity to take part in the ‘smash-o-metre’ challenge, narrowly missing out on the top of the leaderboard!

“The whole day was an amazing experience and it was an honour to meet some legends of the sport” said Eric Harris, London Irish HITZ pupil.

“It was interesting to see how it all works and a great opportunity!”
