The London Irish community choir broke the record for the most children to ever perform a rendition of ‘Fields of Athenry’ before Saturday’s St Patrick’s Party fixture against Gloucester Rugby at the Madejski Stadium.
360 pupils from 15 schools across the region performed the traditional hymn led by Ronan McManus from the BibleCode Sunday’s.
Bill Pulling, London Irish’s marketing and events co-ordinator said: “It was a fantastic performance from the choir and they really got the 15,000 plus crowd going before the big game.
“The different colour uniforms from each school made it look brilliant. Huge thanks to all of the teachers, parents and singers who made the occasion possible.”
Alex Reffell, teacher at Claycots School said: “Thank you to London Irish for having us – both pupils and parents had a fantastic day and we enjoyed a good game of rugby.”
