London Irish and XBlades have today unveiled their brand new home jersey for the 2017/18 Aviva Premiership campaign.

The club celebrates its 120 year anniversary this season and with this in mind, London Irish and XBlades’ apparel technicians have produced a jersey which returns to the traditional dark green and retro collar design as worn by the many Exiles players down the years.

A fusion of technology and the club’s heritage, this London Irish green jersey features a white grid pattern that covers the shoulders and progresses down both of the sides, with the same grid pattern continuing down both sides of the shorts. ‘Exiles from 1898’ is inscribed on the inside back collar.

London Irish’s James Marshall (pictured centre) modelled the supporter version of the jersey during Saturday’s Members Day held at Hazelwood. Click here to watch the kit reveal.

The pro-fit jersey, which will be worn by the players, will differ very slightly to the supporter jersey as it will not have the casual collar.

“It’s been a tremendous honour to design a new home shirt befitting of London Irish’s 120 year anniversary,” said XBlades chief executive Lee Jenkinson.

“We’re really focused on combining London Irish’s proud history with some traditional elements alongside a modern look and feel.

“It’s been a real pleasure to work on the design of the kit with the team at London Irish and the reaction we’ve had from the club and playing staff has been very positive.

“We now can’t wait to see so many fans wearing it over the course of the 2017/18 season.”

London Irish director of rugby Nick Kennedy, who was a mainstay of the Exiles’ pack for more than a decade, said: “It’s great to have a jersey that combines both a high-tech design with the club’s traditional identity.

“We are really pleased with the look of the new kit and I know the players can’t wait to pull on the new jersey in the friendlies in Sunbury on 12 and 18 August.

“The players have said that the XBlades training wear is the best kit that they have ever had.”

The Exiles welcome Harlequins and Ealing Trailfinders to Hazelwood on 12 and 18 August respectively as the club gears up for its return to the Premiership.

The supporters jersey is now available to buy exclusively from the online shop www.londonirishshop.com and the away jersey will be launched on Friday 25 August.
