Summer recruits Ben Ransom and George Robson admit they were pleased to leave Bedford Blues with maximum points following a stern test at Goldington Road.

Ransom, 24, and Robson, 30, who have both spent the majority of their playing careers in the capital, analysed the 30-23 victory exclusively for LITV.

“It was a really tough game and it was great to get the win,” said Robson.

“It wasn’t the most beautiful of games, but we’ve got to be pleased with maximum points away from home,” added the former Harlequins second-row.

Echoing Robson’s sentiments, Ransom underlined the Exiles’ character as a key ingredient for the club’s third win on the spin.

He said: “I thought we really stuck in there in the first half as Bedford were playing a very good kicking game. We came out for the second half in positive mood and grinded out a win.”

The duo continued by paying tribute to Bedford and insisted there is much to work on ahead of this Sunday’s game against Ealing Trailfinders at the Madejski Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

Victory for Irish cemented their position at the summit of the Championship tree, a point ahead of Yorkshire Carnegie who also recorded victory on the road.
