On Sunday 8 March, the London Irish Community Team hosted 31 teams in the U11/U12 Land Rover Cup at Hazelwood.

Teams from across the UK travelled to Sunbury to take part, including Wilmslow Wolves from Manchester and Caldicot RFC from Wales.

The U11’s competition was run as a ‘fair play’ tournament, with no scores being recorded. Instead, the teams were judged on commitment, supporter’s behaviour and respect as they collected fair play points. At the end of the day, New Milton and District RFC were crowned the Fair Play Champions!

After some very competitive rugby, the U12’s tournament saw Rosslyn Park and London Irish Amateurs meet in the highly-anticipated final. It was Rosslyn Park that came out on top to take the U12’s trophy home!

“The Land Rover Cup showed a high level of competition across both age groups, all teams were a credit to their clubs” said Hari McCormack, community manager.

“We had every weather condition possible and still the level of rugby shown was excellent. Well done to all the teams that came along!”

Looking to next month, the community team are hosting a U13/14 Festival on Sunday 5 April. For more information or to book your team in, please email [email protected]
