A breathless encounter that just about had it all - Les Kiss reflects on Sunday’s 31-31 draw with Sale Sharks at the Brentford Community Stadium ...

On the first half display …

‘Look, we were disappointed in that first half. Sale leveraged their game well and put us under the pump. We just couldn’t get our teeth into the way that we would like to play. Full credit to Sale for that.

‘It was important to get some points in the first half, and that kept us in the hunt.’

On the comeback …

‘At half-time, we walked into the dressing room and spoke to the leadership group. They shared the same opinions as us and that made it easy to set a calm dressing room and try to get back on track.

‘Getting three points after being 17 points down on the scoreboard, you’d think you would be happy with that. We feel we left a bit out there in the first 20 or 30 minutes.’

On the fans return …

‘We had to give the supporters something to cheer. Once we gave them something, they were fully behind us and it truly made a difference.

‘We hope we can provide the type of game that they want to come and see. It was really pleasing to see the supporters back in the stands.’

On the relationship with Brentford FC …

‘What you saw at the Brentford football match on Saturday night is a team that fights for everything. We can take inspiration from them, and I would say that we showed that fight in the second half against Sale.’
