The supporters will play a key role in this evening’s Greene King IPA Championship showdown against Yorkshire Carnegie according to London Irish stalwart David Paice.

Former England hooker Paice, 33, was involved in a blood and thunder forwards tussle during last week’s first leg and is keen for his side to build on their 11-point lead.

“We performed well in the set-piece, but there are a number of areas that we have worked on from the first leg and hopefully we can execute them well tonight,” Paice told LITV.

“We had great support up in Leeds last Wednesday and they were loud and proud, which was very noticeable for the guys on the pitch.

“It felt like a 50-50 split of Yorkshire and Irish fans and it gave us a huge boost.”
