Back-to-back victories at the end of the regular Greene King IPA Championship season have given the Exiles a timely boost going into the Play-offs according to London Irish hooker David Paice.

Paice, who has been a mainstay of the pack this season, was in fine form as Irish recorded wins against Rotherham Titans and Doncaster Knights.

“It was good to go into the play-offs with some good performances under our belt,” said the former England front-row.

“I was very happy with the way that the set-piece went and we did well in the scrum, which was good to see.

“The scrum was an area of the game that we identified as something we needed to improve on midway through the season. Also, from a personal point of view, I feel that my lineout throws were perhaps not the sharpest, but it’s something I can tidy up.”

With the Exiles faithful snapping up their tickets for the home semi-final second leg against Doncaster on Saturday 6 May (kick-off 1.15pm), Paice says that the supporters have had a huge impact on his game this campaign.

“I think I speak on behalf of everyone at the club in saying that I have been blown away by the fantastic support that we have received throughout the season,” said Paice.

“It’s great to see a sea of green in the stands at the Madejski Stadium on a match day, and as players we can hear them cheering us on all afternoon which has really helped us.

“This is an exciting part of the season and the supporters can make a big difference.”
