Greig Tonks and Gordon Reid have been named in Scotland’s starting XV for this Saturday’s Test match against Australia in Sydney (kick-off 6am BST).

Tonks and Reid are two of eight changes from the side that defeated Italy 34-13 in Singapore as Head Coach Gregor Townsend looks to use the depth of his squad.

Selecting Tonks at full-back, Townsend said: “Greig is someone I’ve always admired as a player. He was always dangerous for Edinburgh and he’s very good at putting people into space as well as having a very good wide passing game off either hand.”

Inking a deal with Irish ahead of the 2017/18 season, Reid starts in the front row having impressed when coming off the bench in Singapore last week.

“I believe our team is stronger this week,” said Townsend.

“This will be a much tougher game than against Italy. Our back three are going to have to work very hard, not just in defence.

“We want them to get their hands on the ball as much as possible.”
