Motu Matu’u and TJ Ioane have arrived at London Irish following their international exploits with Samoa this summer.

The duo have already hit the ground running in training and are itching to wear the badge with pride when they make the short trip to Ealing Trailfinders on the opening weekend of the season.

“My first day has been pretty nerve racking and it feels like my first day at school,” said hooker Matu’u, who joins Irish from Gloucester having played in last season’s European Rugby Challenge Cup final.

“It’s been good to meet the boys and they’ve made me feel welcome. It’s been quite helpful to have not only TJ here, but also Ofisa and Blair who I know very well and that’s helped me settle in.”

Meanwhile, former Sale Sharks favourite Ioane arrives at Hazelwood with a rich pedigree in the game and is determined to well for his new club.

“We’ve been warmly welcomed to the club and the boys have been really good with me,” said the experienced flanker.

“They’re all willing to help us out both on and off the field and it’s been pretty comfortable settling in.”
