One of the longest commercial partnerships in rugby has been extended with the announcement today (6th September) that Guinness will continue to be the Official Beer partner of the club for another season.
The first formal contract between the brewers of Guinness and London Irish dates back over 40 years pre-dating the professional era when the club was based at The Avenue in Sunbury upon Thames. Over the intervening period not only has “the black stuff” retained and enhanced its popularity with the club’s supporters and visitors, the two have combined in a number of innovative sponsorship initiatives including the annual “Guinness-London Irish Rugby Union Journalist of the Season Award”.
Announcing the decision to continue the partnership, Rory Sheridan, Head of Sponsorship, Europe said: “Guinness has been a proud partner of London Irish for decades, and the relationship is very special to us. We’re delighted to support the club for another season.”
London Irish Chief Executive Bob Casey said: “Not only is Guinness synonymous with rugby, it also has a special place in the story of London Irish. We’re pleased that our partnership will continue so that our members and supporters can continue to enjoy the benefits of our association for another season.
