London Irish’s community department have made a gift aid donation to the West Sama Foundation.

The donation - which includes, London Irish Kit and equipment. - will assist the Ghana-based foundation in their mission to restore hope among vulnerable children and communities in West Africa, that have been affected by poverty, abuse, violence and other natural calamities.

The WSF work in communities to provide a holistic transformation of young people and disadvantaged communities by offering training, empowerment and exposure to life-changing innovations. WSF encourages and motivates young once in the community to show interest in education through sports. 

West Sama Foundation Executive Director, Samuel Osei, said: “We are extremely grateful for this kind gesture from London Irish.

“This incredible gift will allow us to start up a rugby team in Ghana, to train, motivate and encourage more children to give them hope after school.”

Head of Community, Matt Heeks, explained how the idea of a gift donation to the West Sama Foundation came about, commenting: "The opportunity to help WSF came from one of our community coaches, Niall Crosley.

“Needless to say, we are delighted to be able to help them in their quest to start up a rugby team and help as many young children start playing the game."
