London Irish will restart the remainder of the 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership season at the Rec against Bath on Saturday 15 August.

The news comes as rounds 14-17 of the resumption of the season have been confirmed, having been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Exiles’ second outing will be against Northampton Saints, on Saturday 22 August, the fixture which would have been the club’s famous St Patrick’s Party game.

Round 16 will see Declan Kidney’s men travel to Welford Road to play Leicester Tigers for a midweek fixture on Wednesday 26 August, before hosting Saracens on Sunday 30 August.

The venue for London Irish’s home fixtures will be confirmed shortly. Kick-off times, and the fixtures chosen to be shown live on BT Sport, will also be confirmed in due course.

CEO Brian Facer said: “Confirmation of the first round of fixtures is an exciting step towards getting back to playing rugby and it gives us all a date to look forward to.

“The players and coaches have been working hard for the past few weeks and are keen to get back into action to regain the momentum which we had had when the league went on hiatus back in March.

“We are working with Premiership Rugby and all of the relevant authorities on the next steps towards getting our supporters back into stadiums and making their voices heard.

“We are enormously grateful to our supporters for their continued patience, support and understanding and know that even if they cannot be at matches in person they’ll be there in spirit.”
