London Irish has today announced the signings of Fijian internationals Albert Tuisue and Alivereti Veitokani.

Both players were part of the Fiji national squad in an Autumn International campaign which included wins over France and Uruguay.

Tuisue, a 6ft 2in, 114kg 25-year-old, can play in both the second and back rows, while 25-year-old fly half Veitokani was the standout performer in the 2018 National Rugby Championship in Australia, winning the tournament’s Rising Star Award.

Director of Rugby Declan Kidney says that both players have the ability to succeed in English rugby, but that they also have plenty of room for improvement.

“Albert’s career has taken an upward turn in the past two years,” Kidney commented. “He has international experience but is still young, and we believe that he has the potential to become a good player for us.

“Alivereti is a player with talent and potential. He will find the Championship more structured compared to what he is used to in Australia and Fiji, so it might take him time to adjust to rugby in England.

“But we’ve been impressed by what we’ve seen from both players and believe that they have the ability to succeed as part of our squad.”

London Irish's next home game is against Richmond on Sunday 13 January with tickets available from ticketing.londonirish.net
