Last month London Irish Rugby Club’s nutrition sponsor, Etixx, invited the Club’s senior Academy members to their London office in Vauxhall to host a series of mock job interviews.
Etixx, who provide the Club with nutritional supplements and advice, designed the interviews to train the players on interview technique and teach them vital lessons in CV writing and job applications. The day was put together and organised by London Irish’s RPA Player Development Manager, Budge Pountney.
London Irish Academy Director, Nick Kennedy, said; “This was a great opportunity for the players to learn some vital life skills. Rugby players often do not think about a life after rugby so for Etixx to run these sessions and get them learning and thinking about these skills was extremely useful.”
London Irish senior Academy player, Connor Murphy, said; "The interviews were a great experience. We each received a feedback form from Etixx after our interview which was really useful and gives us a chance to develop the skills they taught us."
Sports Nutrition National Sales Manager, Claire Rive, said; “We are very proud to be associated with London Irish. It is also important to think about life outside of rugby so we were glad to put these sessions on. Overall the players did very well, they presented themselves in an excellent manner and we were impressed by their professional attitude."
