Former Worcester and London Scottish lock forward Dave Lyons has signed a short term agreement with London Irish.

The deal will see Lyons bolster the options available to London Irish in the second row, a position where the Club is currently short of options due to injury.

Lyons was a late starter to rugby playing his first Premiership game for Worcester Warriors against Harlequins in 2009, just 18 months after taking up the sport. He had previously excelled in both basketball and rowing competing at national levels in both sports.

Director of Rugby Brian Smith said: "Dave is a physical, ball carrying second rower who has amassed plenty of experience from his time playing for Clubs in both the Premiership and Championship. There is plenty of rugby to play in the next couple of months so Dave will get an opportunity and I’m sure he’ll do well.”
