Tomorrow afternoon’s match against Ealing Trailfinders will be the final home appearance for a number of players leaving the club at the end of the season, including Brendan McKibbin.

The Australian scrum half will be returning to Australia to take up a role with Rugby Australia in a referee coaching capacity.

McKibbin joined London Irish ahead of the 2016/17 season and has experienced both highs and lows with the club.

“There have been some ups and down at London Irish over the last few years, but the win last week to get back to the Premiership was a massive achievement for the club and a goal we set out at the start of the season.

“We have one more league game to go so it will be nice to finish on a high against Ealing this weekend. I can’t wait to run out there and do the Club proud.”

Topsy Ojo will also be making his farewell at the Madejski on Saturday and McKibbin was quick to pay tribute to the Exiles all time record try and appearance holder

“I can’t speak highly enough of the guy. The contribution the Ojo family has given London Irish over several years is incredible. The sacrifices just to play one top flight game is something else, but to do that consistently at a high level for 16 years is an amazing achievement. Hopefully we can do a job on the weekend because it will only be fitting if he went out a winner.”

The scrum half is fully focused on the job in hand this week and next but is certainly excited about starting the next chapter of his life.

“I’m pretty much straight back into it with Rugby Australia. I always wanted to be around the game after finishing my playing career, to give back what it has given me, so I can’t wait.”

Make sure you are there for Brendan’s last run out at Madejski Stadium. Tickets for the game can be purchased here ticketing.londonirish.net or by calling the ticket office on 0118 968 1016.
