Bob Casey has been appointed to the new position of Operations Director of London Irish.

Casey, who will be responsible for the Club’s rugby and commercial activities, has also joined the main Board of the Club.

The former Exiles’ captain had a distinguished 10 year association with the Club between 2002 and 2012, playing a key part in London Irish’s most successful period to date in the Premiership and Europe.

On his retirement from playing in summer 2012, Casey joined Powerday plc, the recycling and environmental waste management group, as Senior Business Development Manager.  He returned to the Club as Rugby Development Director in July last year.

Announcing Bob Casey’s appointment, Club President Mick Crossan said, “We are delighted to have persuaded Bob to take on this important new role.  He is very passionate about London Irish and wants to help guide it to success in the upper echelons of rugby both in this country and in Europe. His experience of professional rugby, both on and off the pitch, will be a valuable addition to the expertise on our Board of Directors.”

Commenting on his latest appointment, Bob Casey said, “It was the vision and commitment of the new owners that persuaded me that I should re-join the Club in an executive capacity.  Their passion combined with the loyalty of our exceptional supporters, helped to convince me that I had a role to play in moving this great Club forward to the next stage of its development.  I’m delighted to have been appointed Operations Director and look forward to meeting and working with all the Club’s stakeholders over the coming months.”
