London Irish Academy products Henry Arundell and Will Joseph have been selected for England’s touring squad to Australia as apprentice players.

Both of the Exiles backs will be available to be selected for their first caps in a just reward for their standout contributions in their respective first and second season in the Irish first team.

Their rise through to involvement in the England first team saw them only make their first appearances for the England under-20s side in the 2022 Under-20s Six Nations in February and March.

Arundell, recently crowned the Land Rover Discovery of the Season at the Premiership Rugby awards ceremony, joined Joseph in extending their stay in west London, each signing long-term contracts this month.

The full-back has bagged 11 tries in 17 appearances for Irish and England under-20s in the 2021/22 campaign and could be in line for his first starting berth under Eddie Jones in Australia.

Will Joseph has returned from a spell on the sidelines this year and built on promising cameos last term, scoring two runaway tries in vital wins against Castres Olympique in the EPCR Challenge Cup and Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Rugby Cup.

The three-match test series against the Wallabies opens on Saturday 2nd July at the Optus Stadium in Perth, kicking-off at 10.55am BST.

The tour continues on Saturday 9th July in Brisbane at the Suncorp Stadium (ko 10.55am BST) and finishes at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the Saturday 16th July (ko 10.55am BST).

Eddie Jones’ team opened their summer schedule with a fixture at Twickenham Stadium against Barbarians, with Will Goodrick-Clarke coming off the bench in the second half of the 52-21 loss.

Massive congratulations, Henry and Will!
