The Tackling Health programme is an interactive project for children aged between seven – eight. The programme takes a holistic approach to teaching children about their own health, wellbeing and about leading a healthy lifestyle with a rugby focus.
In partnership with the Greggs Foundation, the key aims of the project are to improve young people’s understanding of what constitutes healthy eating and a healthy diet, and to increase levels of physical activity.
Rugby’s diversity makes it the perfect vehicle to drive a healthy and activity-led initiative. As a sport, rugby can offer playing opportunities to children no matter their ability or background.
The Tackling Health programme covers 19 schools and 1200 pupils and will culminate on the 5 July at the London Irish Tackling Health festival held at Hazelwood.
