London Irish were beaten 45-7 by Harlequins in the Premiership Rugby A League at a sodden Hazelwood on Monday night.

Tries from Tim Visser (2), Harry Sloan, Charlie Mulchrone, John Okafor and Calum Waters earned the Twickenham Stoop outfit a comfortable victory.

Skipper Ollie Hoskins scored the Exiles’ solitary try as they now turn their attention to a trip to Bristol in just under two weeks’ time.

Quins opened the scoring through Sloan, the winger scampering in at the corner to give his side the early advantage.

Not deterred by going behind, Irish hit back on 13 minutes courtesy of Hoskins who powered over from close range after Jacob Atkins had elected to kick for touch in favour of a shot at goal.

Atkins added the extras from out wide to edge Irish 7-5 in front.

With the game in the balance and Irish threatening a further score, it was the visitors who took the initiative midway through the first half as Dino Lamb crossed the whitewash. Scotland international Tim Visser was the provider, offloading to the No. 8 for the score.

Quins extended their lead on 27 minutes when Okafor punished an Irish knock-on by burrowing over for a converted try.

On the stroke of half-time Quins speedster Visser bagged a try of his own to put his side in the ascendancy at 24-7 going into the interval.

Quins continued their points scoring immediately after the break, Cadan Murley registering their fifth try of the evening on the back of some excellent lineout play.

10 minutes from time replacement scrum-half Calum Waters added further gloss to the scoreline for Quins as he scooted in for a try.

Charlie Mulchrone, brother of Exiles' centre Fergus rounded off the scoring for Quins, with the successful conversion making it 45-7.
