London Irish brought some festive cheer to children at Frimley Park Hospital as members of the first team squad and community team made their annual visit in the run-up to Christmas.

Accompanied by Digger, players Ofisa Treviranus, Fergus Mulchrone and Conor Gilsenan handed out gifts and chatted to children, many of whom will sadly be spending the festive period in hospital.

“I’m a parent myself and I know how special this time of the year is for families,” said London Irish back row Treviranus.

“Christmas is normally a very happy time, but for these children and their families it’s a very difficult time and it’s nice for us to come here and make everyone’s day nicer.”

London Irish would like thank Frimley Park Hospital and all of its staff for welcoming us into their children’s ward.

Phillipa Smith, a nurse at Frimley Park Hospital said: “A big thank you to London Irish for making the afternoon special in both the accident and emergency unit and the children’s ward.

“The feedback from the patients and their families was fantastic and I wish everyone at London Irish a very merry Christmas.”
