AWAY TRAVEL: Handy information ahead of your trip to Edinburgh

London Irish take on Edinburgh Rugby in the European Rugby Challenge Cup this Saturday and with a number of Exiles supporters making the trip to Myreside, here’s some handy information for those of you heading north of the border. Food and drink

The supporters’ marquee, The Castle, is the main bar for supporters offering a choice of drinks including bottled alcoholic beverages along with food and confectionary. The Castle is situated on the opposite side of the road to the main stands next to the Myreside Pavilion.

There are kiosks situated in various locations in the stadium serving a range of hot and cold refreshments.

Please note the bars and catering units are unable to accept credit cards and there is not a cash machine on site.

There are a number of bars, restaurants and shops in Brunsfield, Morningside and other areas that are within walking distance of the ground.

How to get there?  

By train

The nearest railway station to Myreside is located to the west of the stadium at Slateford and is approximately 20 minutes’ walk. The train service between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Central stops at this station and provides an hourly service on weekdays and Saturdays.

The city’s main railway stations of Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket are to the north of Myreside.

Upon arrival at Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket stations there are direct buses to Myreside. From Waverley, Lothian Buses 10 and 45 will take you to the stadium and from Haymarket, Lothian Buses 4, 44 and 34 stop at Slateford Road – an approximate 15 min walk from Myreside, accessed via Ashley Terrace.

Taxis are also available outside both Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket stations and the journey from either will take approximately 15 minutes. Further taxi ranks are available throughout the City Centre.
