Both schools work in partnership with the London Irish Academy to help develop the Exiles stars of the future, with graduates from Wellington including Jon Fisher, Guy Armitage and Max Lahiff and St Georges producing Anthony Watson and current England U17 and Irish Scrum Half Callum Watson.
A number of the current U15 Academy group will take to the field to represent their schools this weekend with Josh Basham, Freddie Mackeness, Dylan Moss, Sam Galy and Alex Schoff representing Wellington and Harry Delaney, Jack Walters, Rory O’Neil and brothers Jamie and Connor Kelly representing St Georges.
In the lead up to the semi finals this week London Irish Captain George Skivington and Aussie star James O’Connor dropped into Wellington College to pay the U15 group a visit and wish them well in the semi final.
Captain Skivington spoke to the group about preparing for a big game, dealing with pressure and how to make your match day routine as normal as possible despite the distractions of a big game day.
Fullback O’Connor couldn’t help but get involved and put the Wellington first team 7’s squad through their paces with some core skills practice.
Everyone at Irish wishes both schools well in their semi finals! Come on you Irish!
