London Irish Players Visit Great Ormond Street Hospital

Date: Thu 29 Nov 2012

London Irish players, Declan Danaher, Ian Humphreys and Marland Yarde spent Thursday at Great Ormond Street Hospital along with Brian Smith and Digger.

Brian Smith is a great supporter of Great Ormond Street Hospital so arranged for some of the top names in the Club to visit the children in the hospital along with Digger as a special treat.

The group spent time in Badger and Bear wards with children with respiratory and cardiac problems and Kingfisher ward where children are having medical investigations and tests. Digger kindly bought along some of his Digger Club packs to hand out to the children, which included a mini rugby ball and London Irish flag amongst other treats.

The players experienced firsthand the hard work that the nurses and doctors go through on a daily basis.

Brian said: "It was great to see Digger and our lads putting a smile on the faces of the kids at Great Ormond Street Hospital. My good friend Kris Mikkleson organised the visit and the players were brilliant. It's important to do good things to help people whenever we can. That's the London Irish way."

Declan speaking about the day said: “It is very humbling to meet the children and see them smiling no matter what their current situation may be”.
