Irish United: Sheamus joins Exiles for training session

Date: Tue 06 Nov 2012

Irish Stars join Sheamus for WWE London showdown and the Great White attends training at Sunbury.

Six London Irish rugby players joined WWE Superstar, Sheamus, at Wembley Arena on Sunday evening as Smackdown entertained over 9,000 spectators.

England International, Alex Corbisiero was joined by Max Lahiff, Kieran Low, James Sandford, Sailosi Tagicakibau and Guy Armitage as they accompanied the Dublin born, WWE Superstar to the ring for his match with WWE Heavyweight Champion, The Big Show.

Alex Corbisiero said: “It was an incredible experience and something I will never forget. I have been a fan of WWE for a long time and to have the opportunity to get in the ring was a really special moment.”

Sheamus took time out of his busy touring schedule to visit the London Irish players down at Sunbury yesterday morning and joined the squad in some passing drills and line out work.

“Sheamus said: “The thing I was most anxious about today was not making myself look like an absolute fool. I don’t think I embarrassed myself too much; but I don’t think any of the guys have anything to worry about with me taking their spot any time soon.”

London Irish prop forward, Max Lahiff was very complimentary about Sheamus’s skills. “I was quite impressed. He said he hasn’t played a lot of rugby but I think he definitely has. He would make a good back row player.”

It was great to welcome Sheamus to the training ground and to have found a new fan to the Club. We wish him all the best and look forward to welcoming him to the Club again soon.
