London Irish legend to make 250th appearance against Quins

London Irish stalwart Declan Danaher will make his 250th appearance for the Club when he takes the field against Harlequins on Sunday afternoon in the Aviva Premiership.

Declan, who is currently in his thirteenth season has scored 21 tries in his 249 appearances and is third in the Club’s all time list behind Justin Bishop 280 and Neal Hatley 251 appearances.

During his 13 years with the Exiles, Declan has become a real favourite amongst the London Irish supporters for his great passion for and dedication to the only team he has ever played for.

During his time at London Irish, Declan has won the Powergen Cup in 2002, been to a Heineken Cup semi-final and played in a Premiership final in 2009 where London Irish lost out to Leicester by a single point.

Declan said: “It is a huge honour for me to be playing in my 250th game for London Irish. I have played alongside and against some outstanding players along the way and I have enjoyed every second of it. This Club is extremely special to me and I am delighted I have been able to play so many matches for London Irish.”

London Irish Director of Rugby said: “Declan is not only a wonderful player but, even more importantly, he is a great bloke. I have been around the game for over 40 years and have yet to meet a more dedicated or loyal team man than Dec Danaher. He’s a special player and we are lucky to have him at the Club.”
