Exiles launch Champneys partnership with Krio session

Date: Thu 27 Sep 2012

London Irish players undertook a kriotherapy session last month to aid muscle recovery in the lead up to the start of the Aviva Premiership season.

London Irish players experienced a variety of specialist treatments at Champneys’ Tring facility last month to aid muscle recovery in the lead up to the start of the Aviva Premiership season.

The players then experienced a thallasotherapy session in Champneys specially designed pool before each player had a deep tissue massage to end the day.

London Irish Club Captain, Declan Danaher said: “The day was thoroughly beneficial to the squad. It is rare to find kriotherapy facilities, so to have it so close is fantastic. I would like to thank everyone at Champneys for making us so welcome and for their hospitality.”

The day marked the start of a new commercial partnership for the 2012/13 season during which Champneys will provide similar recovery treatments for players in exchange for hospitality and tickets at London Irish home matches.

London Irish will be acting as ambassadors to Champneys promoting the benefits of their facilities for professional athletes.

London Irish Commercial Director, Richard Marsh said: “We are delighted to have Champneys on board as our latest partner. Our customer base is very similar as is our ethos of continually striving for further success. The use of specialist state of the art facilities for player recovery will also be of huge benefit. We look forward to developing our relationship further over the coming season.”

Champneys owner Steven Purdew said: “It was fantastic to welcome the London Irish squad to our Tring facility in August to launch this partnership and I hope we will see many London Irish supporters enjoying the facilities at our various venues across the South-East".
