On Sunday 7th March Community Coach Alex Grieve, made the long trip down to Wimborne RFC in Dorset

Alex delivered coaching sessions to their U9 and U11 age groups, as part of the London Irish Community Club Partnership scheme. He spent the first hour delivering to the U9 age group, with the focus on passing and catching on the run. The players were very keen to learn and took the coaching points well on board.

The second hour was spent with the U11 age group, focusing on ball carrying and tackling, as well as helping the youngsters adapt to the game plan their coaches are implementing. Everyone involved enjoyed the session and hopefully went away as better players, having learnt something new.

Speaking about the morning’s session Alex commented: “The attitude and skills on show, and the general standard of play, were excellent all morning, particularly in the U11 age group. It was a pleasure being able to coach down at Wimborne RFC. It was well worth the long trip down and I look forward to any further visits to the club.”
