Exiles duo named in Scotland Squad for Autumn Internationals

London Irish forwards Blair Cowan and Kieran Low have been named in the Scotland training squad for a training camp in Glasgow next week ahead of the Viagogo Autumn Tests.

Kieran Low is a graduate of the London Irish Academy and has made 35 appearances for the first team. He scored a scintillating try against Saracens in the LDH and has been a stand out performer in the opening months of the season.

Blair joined the Exiles from Worcester over the summer and after overcoming a calf injury has been a revelation in the back row producing a man of the match performance in the victory over Harlequins earlier this month.

Scotland Head Coach, Scott Johnson said: "Kieran Low is a good, young player who is athletic and big enough to play at lock or blindside and we don’t have many players who can do that. Blair Cowan is a good, tough, energetic player who can play in every back-row position.”

Cowan, qualifies for Scotland through his Dunoon-born mother, Joan, who is a keen triathlete in New Zealand. Low’s eligibility rests with a paternal grandfather, Wilfred Henry Low, who was born in Dingwall.

Of his decision to opt for Scotland, Cowan said: “The Scottish side has always been a strong part of my family, my career really kicked off in Great Britain and Scotland’s always been the country, in my mind, that I wanted to represent.”

Kieran Low said: "committing to Scotland was an easy decision to make. I want to grab the chance to play international rugby.”
