HITZ

Delivered nationally by Premiership Rugby and funded by national partners Barclays, Comic Relief, Land Rover and Wooden Spoon, HITZ uses rugby to increase young people’s resilience, self-reliance and confidence. The education project, based at the West Wing Art Centre in Slough,  provides opportunities for 16-19 year old NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training)  young people to gain the skills to get back into education, vocational training, apprenticeships and employment. The programme offers young people the chance to study for a BTEC Level 1 in Sport and Active Leisure and also to work on their Functional skills up to level 2. This is done through a 3 day a week programme which is personally tailored towards the learners needs by Prospect Training Services. This is achieved through a good mix of exciting sporting activities such as rugby, tennis, karate, Pilates and gym sessions alongside a structured educational programme.

THROUGH THIS PROGRAMME YOU CAN ACCESS

  • Work Skills and Work Experience
  • Information Communication Technology
  • Personal Social Development
  • Community Sports Leader Award
  • Information Advice and Guidance

Alongside the education element of the programme, HITZ also offers pitch up and play sessions across parks in Slough, information on this can be found on the London Irish HITZ website
