HITZ is delivered nationally by Premiership Rugby and is funded by National Partners Land Rover, Comic Relief, Creative Sport & Leisure and Wooden Spoon.
HITZ uses rugby and sport in general as its core values to improve the personal life and employability skills of disadvantaged young people, which underpin success in education and work. It uses the inspiration of professional rugby union and its role models to motivate and build a brighter future.
The programme increases young people's resilience, self-reliance and confidence. It gives them the skills to get back into education, vocational training, apprenticeships and employment.
The London Irish HITZ project is run from the John Madjeski school in Reading, providing opportunities for 16-19 year olds NEET, (Not in Education, Employment or Training) to get involved. We offer the chance to study for a BTEC Level 1 in Sport and Active Leisure, as well as work on their functional skills up to level 2.
