London Irish signalled its intention of maintaining a strong Celtic connection in its playing squad with the confirmation today (4th June) that Bryan Rennie, the Scotland qualified back, has signed for the club.
The 23 year old centre joins on a one year contract from Border Reivers where he played during the past season. He joined the Scottish regional club after an outstanding 2005-06 season with Watsonians for whom he scored over 20 tries.
Although born in South Africa, Bryan qualifies for Scotland through his Aberdeen born father. Before travelling to Scotland to join Watsonians he played for Durban Collegians and the Natal Sharks Under 20 team.
Confirming the club's latest signing Brian Smith, London Irish Director of Rugby said: 'Bryan is another utility back that has performed well for Borders. He is a hard running centre who is very highly rated by Gregor Townsend. He is exactly the kind of player that will be vital for us during the World Cup period and beyond.'
