Disabled Facilities & Access

London Irish operates a ticketing policy whereby:

  • Tickets purchased in the designated disabled areas, will be at the concessionary prices.
  • Disabled supporters are provided with a complimentary 'carer' ticket for each ticket purchased in the disabled area.
  • A disabled person can choose not to sit in the designated disabled area, however the individual will forfeit the entitlement to the disabled related concessions and tickets.

London Irish reserves the right to request 'proof of disability'. Such proof shall include:

  1. Receipt of the middle or higher rate of the Disability Living Allowance (mobility or care component)
  2. Receipt of either the Severe Disablement Allowance or Attendance Allowance
  3. A personal letter from your GP
NB receipt of an Orange/Blue badge will not be considered sufficient proof of disability.

The Madejski Stadium has total of 128 designated disabled spaces available in all stands. Entry is at ground level and the places are set well back from the pitch, offering excellent viewing and weather protection.

The stadium also offers 122 disabled parking spaces - The majority of these spaces are issued as season parking permits (at a cost of

90), but there is availability to pay on the day (

7) and park within the Orange Disabled car park. Space is limited and is offered on the day of the match on a first come first served basis.

Facilities for supporters using wheelchairs

The club has 65 positions for wheelchair supporters

These are situated as follows:

East Stand 18, West Stand 15, South 18, North Stand 23 (when the stand is open)

Wheelchair viewing is also available in hospitality areas, subject to application.

These places are provided at a concessionary price payable by the disabled person using the wheelchair. Should a carer be required, they will not be charged.

In conjunction with the proof of disability, this concession will only be available to those people who meet the eligibility criteria described below.

Wheelchair using applicants must be largely confined to a wheelchair, or not capable of walking a distance further than that required to reasonably and safely access any other part of the stadium.

Wheelchair using applicants should, ideally, also be accompanied by a person who is capable of supporting the disabled person's needs in the event of an emergency. For this reason London Irish strongly recommend that the carer is sixteen years of age or over and not be infirm.

The club's health and safety policy requires that the person using a wheelchair remain in their wheelchair. Any refusal will be deemed to be a contravention of Health and Safety policy and you may be asked to leave the stadium/be declined a ticket.

Facilities for supporters with other disabilities including ambulatory, infirmities, visual and learning difficulties

The club recognises that there are considerable numbers of people in the community who have physical restricting medical conditions and wish to consider their needs in order for them to be able to continue watching matches.

Supporters with visual impairments

London Irish take in to consideration the needs of the visually impaired in order for them to be able to continue their support of the Exiles.

Visual Impaired supporters are charged at the concession rate and are entitled to a free carers pass. Eligibility for this concession requires proof of disability or a document which certifies that they are Registered Blind/Partially Sighted or qualifying documentation from their optician equivalent to registration requirements.

We strongly recommend that each visually impaired person attending a match should be accompanied by a person who is fully able to support their needs in the event of an emergency. This person is entitled to a free carer pass.

Match day commentary is provided on Sky televised matches and headsets are available on the day, please speak with the customer services desk to organise this.

Guide Dogs are allowed into the Stadium Bowl but we would recommend that supporters with Guide Dogs contact the Customer Service Office 0118 968 1211 / disability@readingfc.co.uk before the match so that we can discuss with them access to the ground, facilities inside the ground and the welfare of the Guide Dog before, during and after the match.

Supporters with Ambulatory Disabilities

London Irish recognise that there are considerable numbers of people in the community who use wheelchairs mainly for outdoor mobility purposes but are not necessarily confined to their wheelchair. There are also many people suffering severe walking difficulties who may wish to watch a match.

The club has given a designated area to these people, allowing them access to seating nearest to the entrances and exits. These seats can be found in row K of the stadium seating, in front of the wheelchair platforms.

Those supporters choosing to sit within the designated area will qualify for the concessionary ticket price and free carer pass. Those individuals who do not wish to sit here will forfeit the entitlement to the concessionary ticket price and carers pass.

Supporters with Infirmities

Supporters with physically restricting medical conditions can sometimes have difficulty in reaching seats in some parts of the stadium. We are also conscious of the elderly population and wish to consider their needs in order for them to continue supporting and watching the club.

Those people suffering from an infirmity which prevents them from climbing a number of steps can request a seat in the most accessible parts of the stadium i.e. near entrances and exits. Please advise the Sales Centre of this request at the time of booking.

Should a supporter's infirmity be so severe that they cannot manage more than one or two steps, they are entitled to sit in the designated area, as that for supporters with ambulatory disabilities.

Facilities for Supporters with Learning Difficulties

Supporters with learning difficulties can normally be accommodated in any part of the stadium in normal seating.
