Corbisiero and Fisher eyeing Grand Slam chance with England Under 20s

Alex Corbisiero and Jon Fisher are relishing the chance to claim a Six Nations Grand Slam in their first season with England’s Under 20s.

The London Irish Academy forwards have been regulars in the starting line-up of England’s campaign to date.  Corbisiero has already touched down twice in the campaign, claiming a first try in the win over Italy to help set up the Grand Slam showdown with Ireland at Gloucester on Friday night (7.35pm).

And after those wins against Wales (28-15), Italy (22-13), France (24-6) and Scotland (41-15), both players are eager to finish the job at Kingsholm in front of a live television audience on Sky Sports on Friday.

“It’s been great to have been involved in the tournament – we’ve gelled together well as a team and completed all the things we set out to do so now we’ve got to keep on performing,” said Jon Fisher.

“Friday’s going to be a massive game. We thought playing France in front of 20,000 was pressure but playing for a Grand Slam is something else. Everyone really wants it and you can see that.”

Commenting on the progress of Alex and Jon, Academy Manager Neal Hatley said, “London Irish is extremely proud of the achievements of Alex and Jon. They’ve started every game of the championship so far and starred in all of them. It is very pleasing from an Academy point of view to see two of our hardest working players do so well. We obviously see them playing a big role in the club’s future and wish them all the best for the game on Friday. It would be fantastic if Jon crosses the whitewash as he needs to score two tries to catch Alex on the try table.”
